Because I have a strong dislike for Bill O'Reilly

I know this is old but I came across it a couple days ago. Every time I see this clip I'm reminded of Colbert's genius. My belief that O'Reilly is a total douche is also reinforced whenever I watch this. Of course, watching five minutes of O'Reillly's show will also reinforce that belief. I just get a kick out of the first line from Colbert about vertigo. Brilliant.
enjoy...

The Aaron Rodgers Era Begins

For some reason people who don't know me assume I'm not a big sports fan. I can't say that I blame them, I mean if I saw me walking down the street the last thing I would thing of is devoted sports fan. Despite my skinny, nerdy exterior I am a huge sports fan. Obviously, from the title of this entry you can deduce that I am a Green Bay Packers fan. Don't ask me why, I've just had a love affair with this team since I was a little kid. What makes it even more strange is that everyone in my family is a bloody Cowboys fan. I suppose even at a young age I wanted to be different from everyone else. Sometimes I think if I was born in Green Bay I'd probably be a Vikings fan. Maybe.

After the drama that took place over the summer with Brett Favre unfolded, who I remind you has basically been the Green Bay Packers for over a decade and a half, I wasn't sure how I would be able to root for the Packers and not think of Favre in that New York Jet uniform and how I wasn't sure who was to blame for how it all went down. This feeling was heightened after seeing Favre play pretty well yesterday afternoon. Granted, it was the Dolphins' defense he was going against, but he still looked like the Favre of last season. Which by the way was pretty darn good.

So, needless to say, I was pleased with the outcome of the game tonight. I know it's only one game and it's a long season ahead, but judging just from tonight's performance I'd guess the Packers are capable of at least making the playoffs. I mean, you can't realistically expect more, especially at this point in this early season. There were a couple of plays were he looked Favre-like. The two plays that stick out was the 50 yd pass and then that td pass.

We'll see how Rodgers does on the road against Detroit next week. I for one hope he keeps up the solid play he showed tonight.

Bizarre Foods

If you've seen this show on The Travel Channel I'm sure you would agree with me that it is at least one of the more intriguing shows on television. This episode highlights some of the cuisine of Morocco, definitely one of my favorite episodes. I especially enjoy part four.

Ta-da!

The album is finally finished.
I have the feeling that it's not that a big of a deal for anyone who might read this.
I'm pretty sure I don't get too many readers here, but I suppose that really doesn't matter.

It feels good to have this project complete. I know this record is far from good to so many's standards but I'm proud of it none the less. I put effort into it and all I can hope for is that someone appreciates it. Regardless, I can at least tell the kids some day that I put out my very own self-released record.

peace.

Album Artwork.

Above is the album artwork. I don't think there will be any tangible copy of the record but you still need artwork, right? It's a picture of some flowers in Central Park I took last winter. I just messed around with the photo, you know effects and stuff.
Anyway, the record is coming along nicely. I'm not putting so much pressure on myself to create songs outside of my abilities. It definitely is an ambient record. I can't say that was my intention from the outset but that is the way it is turning out.
I'm hoping it's ready by September, just in time for the start of school. It has a very fall/winter feel to it, which was done on purpose.
I'm hoping everyone will enjoy it in some manner.
that's all for now.

goodnight

Four

"Four" is quite the appropriate title for this entry.
That is the number of songs I am currently working on for the album.
Well, at least that is the number of songs that I feel absolutely good about.
Everything else that I have done in the past four weeks has been scrapped. I suppose that is how the recording process is suppose to go.
However, this is my first time at attempting to record a full length disc.
I suppose I should try to be more patient but I find myself being unable to do so.
I'm not sure what it is.

Today, for example, I was completely frustrated, literally about to give up. I was so frustrated at the thought that I have not even completed one song. I do however, have four strong ideas I feel good about. Still, I thought that I might be at least half way complete with the entire project by now.
I guess not.
I am also becoming increasingly frustrated at the constraints that my musical talent (or lack thereof) has put on me. I'm not the most gifted musician, I already know that. I find that most frustrating because I have found that music is my passion but that it probably isn't going to be a career in any fashion for me.
At least I have other things going for me...law school soon...then, who knows?
No bother, I'm not going to be a child about it. I have too much to be grateful for.
I'm just going to continue work on the album and enjoy my youth.

goodnight.

Three

Work on the album is coming along quite nicely. I'm hoping to have the second and third tracks close to being finished by the end of the week. One song entitled "Nostalgia For The 1980s" is somewhat an out of place tune. I really like it but it doesn't fit with the way the album is shaping out to sound. It's a little more upbeat, smooth, not too much going on. It might be the least complicated piece of music I've composed over the last six months. Lately, everything I've recorded has been layered with textures and sounds, but this one is fairly simple, dare I say it sounds like a pop song.

I'm trying to rehearse for some live shows. I think more than anything I would love to do a show with this group of songs. I feel confident that when I get a few more things settled I will be able to deliver a mildly entertaining set. Still, I think a little more time is needed to ensure that I will go and do my best. As with the recording of the record, I feel no need to rush anything in regards to doing a live show. Patience will prove to be my greatest asset if I wish to avoid embarrassment.

Two

One new song but it is far from finished.
I really have no direction for the album at this moment.
I know that it will be a record best listened to in the fall/winter months.
In fact, I think all my songs are like that. I'm not too much for spring or summer.
Don't get me wrong, I like sunny days, road trips (maybe not this summer, gas prices you know), happy indie/electronica pop music, and sexy parties (I had to throw in a Family Guy reference sooner or later), but I love sweaters and coats and scarfs and earl grey tea with my breakfast.
My music just has that cloudy cold day feel to it.
I like it that way.

One

First week of work on the album and not much to report.
I have too many ideas floating around in my mind.
I've been listening to the
Atlas Sound album 'Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel’ on repeat.
Bradford Cox...amazing talent, what else can be said?
I've also been taking in some Panda Bear and Animal Collective.
Maybe that will show in the new material, I don't know.
A few ideas floating around.
nothing more.
nothing more....
